Spanish for Beginners

In this post, we have covered the most essential elements required to master Spanish for Beginners.

Learn basic Spanish Vocabulary

At the beginning of learning any new language, one must start learning the alphabet, its sounds, cognates, greetings, introductions of the animals, etc. This will not only improve the writing skills of Spanish for Beginners but also their speaking, reading, and listening skills.

1. Spanish Alphabet

The first step to start Spanish for Beginners is to study its alphabet and also learn the letters’ different sounds. Spanish Alphabet is 27 in number i.e. one more than English Alphabet. The official Spanish alphabet ñ alphabet is apart from all English alphabets. As a Spanish learner, the correct pronunciation of single words will definitely help in Spanish spelling.

2. Spanish Cognates

Cognate are words that have the same root and origin and share the same meaning in two languages. If one who is an English speaker wants to learn Spanish, cognates enriches one’s  Spanish vocabulary as it give access to many words that one already knows in English.

3. Enrich Spanish Vocabulary

Building vocabulary is one of the important steps for Spanish for  Beginners as it helps them to have enough words that they will require before going into grammar details. Here are some of the lists that will help build basic vocabulary that includes more in-depth vocabulary for later on :

  • Basic greetings
  • Numbers and telling the time
  • Weekdays
  • Months of the year
  • Daily routines
  • The weather
  • Colors
  • Food
  • Fruits
  • Animals
  • Travel and Transportation
  • Saying thank you
  • Asking how are you
  • Body parts

Keep it simple and focus initially on commonly used words and simple phrases, and then move up to more complicated topics. Try using the words in your day-to-day conversation as there is no point learning words that are not useful.

2. Study Spanish Grammar Rules

The grammar of any language is the infrastructure of that language. Although it’s the least entertaining part of learning grammar as rules differ from one language to another without it, one cannot get hold of any language.

Then getting a knack for Direct object pronouns and indirect object pronouns will also make one feel like a real native speaker.

3. Focus on listening and reading
