2 Harvard Summer School

Harvard Summer School was founded in 1871. It is the first academic summer session established and the oldest summer school present in the United States.

All the programs are mainly divided into 2 parts -:

• High School Summer Programs – This course is for high school students which helps in enhancing their co-curricular strengths and also give an insight into college admissions.
• Pre College Program -This program provides many courses for physics, law, writing, philosophy etc. Besides this during this program students will live in an historic undergraduate House, near Harvard Square. 

The full program fee for these courses are at $3200 with an application fee of $75.

3. MIT Summer Programs

MIT does not offer any open-enrollment summer program where any high school student can come to campus to take courses and live in the dorms. However, several partner organizations run small, specialized programs on campus. 

Although they have many summer courses,some of the main courses are -:

MITES -Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science is a six-week residential academic enrichment program for about 80 high school juniors who intend to pursue careers in science, engineering, and entrepreneurship. This program is free of charge for participating students.

RSI – Research Science Institute (RSI) brings together around 70 high school students each summer for six stimulating weeks at MIT. This rigorous academic program stresses advanced theory and research in mathematics, science and engineering. This too, is free of cost.

WTP – Women’s Technology Program (WTP) is a four-week summer academic and residential experience where 60 female high school students explore engineering through hands-on classes (taught by female MIT graduate students).Students at WTP focus on either Electrical Engineering and Computer Science  or Mechanical Engineering.

4. Boston University Summer Term

Boston university offers 5 exciting and challenging summer programs to choose from. BU Summer Term offers students a choice of one-, two-, three-, and six-week programs, with options to live on campus, commute from home, or study online. Students worldwide take part in these summer courses. 

5. University Of Massachusetts Amherst Summer Programs

In  UMass Amherst, Summer Programs are divided mainly into two branches –

• Pre College Programs – These pre-college programs are designed to give students a preview of the UMass student experience, including college-level academics and being part of a learning community of high school students from all across the U.S. and the world. This contains many courses like sports management, programming, foundations of data science etc. .
• High School Undergrad Programs– These programs are for high school students finishing their junior or senior years to enroll in a selected list of online undergraduate UMass Summer Session courses. It contains various courses like elementary algebra, introductory oceanography, introduction to constitutional law etc.

These courses range from $1503 to $2225. 

6. Northeastern University Summer Program

Northeastern University’s Summer Programs include credit and noncredit options designed to prepare rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors for the academic and campus experiences of freshman year of college. The main aim is to prepare high school students for the upcoming university life.

7. Boston College Summer Session

Boston College are offering four, two-week, fully online courses. They maintain the major learning activities and outcomes and will be taught by the original Boston College faculty scheduled to teach the on-campus versions.

Students can expect approximately 2-3 hours a day engaged in classroom activities including discussions, virtual group work, faculty lectures, readings and videos, and individual assignments.

 Cost for each two-week course is $1,000.00 and includes any required materials.

8. Brandeis University Global Health Summer Program 

Brandies University provides many summer courses for high school and college students in app design, service leadership, writing and medical.

9. Emerson College Summer Programs

10. Massachusetts College of Art and Design Summer Pre-College Program 

MassArt’s dynamic Pre-College Summer Studios program is for young artists who are serious about their work. This program is for class 11  and 12 students.

Pre-College students attend three core courses – 2D Fundamentals, 3D Fundamentals, and Issues and Images – to strengthen the foundational skills that students need if they are choosing to pursue higher education in the visual arts.
