About the CS Executive Exam Preparatory Course

CS Executive Exam Preparatory Course (New Syllabus- 2022)

The CS Executive course trains students to handle a firm's legal aspects, including tax returns and record keeping. The Company Secretary is directly involved in a company’s strategy, decision-making, and ensuring all the activities comply with legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements. 

This CS Executive Exam Preparatory Course follows the ICSI CS exam pattern prescribed by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. The institute conducts the CS program at three levels. On completion of all these three levels, candidates are issued certificates to practice Company Secretaryship as a profession and enhance their career scope.

The CS Programme offered by the ICSI includes three levels:

  • Foundation Programme (Now replaced with CS Executive Entrance Test  or CSEET)
  • Executive Programme
  • Professional Programme

Who Should Attend?

You will be eligible to appear in the CS Executive Exam  Preparatory Course, only if you meet all the criteria given below:

  • Candidates must be more than 17 years of age to register for the CS Executive course.
  • Applicants must have passed either the ICSI-conducted CSEET test or the CS Foundation level.
  • Candidates who pass the CSEET exam must receive at least 40% on each paper. For all papers, the overall average score should be 50%. Applicants who meet these requirements are deemed to have "Passed" the ICSI CSEET exam.
  • Applicants who choose the direct entry admission option are exempt from taking the CS Foundation or CSEET test. Such Candidates must be graduates or postgraduates.
  • Applicants who have successfully completed ICMAI or ICAI's final level are also eligible to directly register for the CS Executive program.

Exemptions for appearing in CS Foundation/ CSEET exam-

The following candidates can also register for the CS Executive exam without appearing in the CS Foundation/ CSEET exam

  • Candidates who have completed graduation/post-graduation in any stream except fine arts
  • Candidates who have qualified CA Final examination or CMA Final examination or exam of any other Accountancy Institution in India or abroad recognized as equivalent thereto by the Council
  • Candidates who have a degree in Corporate Secretaryship or Commerce

CS Executive Exemptions Based on Higher Qualifications

The exemptions on CS Executive Programme under Syllabus 2022 have been mentioned in the table below:

CS Executive Passing Criteria

To qualify for the CS Executive exam, candidates should pass both modules with a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and an aggregate of 50% in all papers. Candidates who will secure marks as per the official passing criteria will only be treated as “Pass” for the next level - the CS Professional exam.

CS Executive Exam Highlights

Pre-Examination Requirement: Students registered under the Executive program under ICSI Syllabus 2022 shall have to successfully complete a Pre-Examination Test to become eligible to enroll and appear in the CS Executive Examinations. 

Effective Date of ICSI Syllabus 2022 for Executive Programme: Start date of Registration under ICSI Syllabus 2022: February 01, 2023, First Examination under ICSI Syllabus 2022: December 2023. 

Last attempt for appearing under ICSI Syllabus 2017: CS Executive's last exam under the old syllabus-2017 is to be held in June 2024.

Note:

* CS Executive New Syllabus 2022 is applicable from Dec 2023 Exams. From Dec 2024 all ICSI Executive Programme exams shall be held in New Syllabus only.

* ICSI Syllabus 2022 aims to inculcate principles, laws, and interpretation at the Executive Level, in this regard, the grouping of Papers under Group 1 of the Executive Programme has been done keeping in view the critical aspects of ‘Ease of Learning’; ‘Balancing of Theoretical / Legal and Practical Papers’ and ‘Strengthening of fundamental concepts having relevance in the Papers covered under subsequent Group 2. In light of these facts, the students are advised to give priority to Group 1 while appearing in Executive Programme Examination.
