This Etiquette Guide helps students know how to handle themselves in an appropriate manner in an online meeting. It is very important for students to be able to communicate online and this is something which should be taught to every student. Here are some of the guidelines for Classroom Etiquette. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
1. Respect Everyone’s Time:-<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Punctuality is of utmost importance for an online meeting. As a student, you need to find out a system that works best for you, which allows you to be on the meeting, the minute it starts so that you don’t miss out on those initial important minutes of instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When you are at home, you want to feel comfortable and wear casual clothes. However classroom etiquette requires that you must look presentable and professional. You must dress in a way that is modest, clean and avoids unnecessary distraction. An important aspect of online etiquette is that you have to share your screen through video {unless you are not well}in order to take part in classroom activities. You have to dress well and nightdress and any immodest clothing should be avoided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3. Choose a good location:-<\/h4>\n\n\n\n\n\n
Classrooms, in a school, are clean and the focus is always on education. Therefore an important aspect of online classroom etiquette would be to check that the computer is kept in a place that is not only neat and tidy but also that there are no distractions around. If you have to study in the bedroom, then you have to make sure that the bed and other furniture are not seen in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4. Mute Yourself if there is a lot of Noise in the Background:-<\/h4>\n\n\n\n\n\n
If you are sitting in a quiet place with your computer, but, suddenly, there is some background noise, then, immediately put yourself on mute by pressing the icon on the left that will mute your audio. Try to move away from that place if possible. If it is not possible for you to remove that background noise, then just mute yourself, and take your instructor into confidence by a private chat and let him know the situation you are in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
5. Be ready to Take Notes:-<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Just as we take down notes while studying in school, so also you should be able to jot down notes and\/or any important instructions given by the teacher. It is, of course, possible to ask by email or check the recording of the video or any other means of communication, but, it is very time-consuming. Moreover, at the end of the class, the teacher might give assignments and dos and dont’s for the next class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
6. Give your full, Focused Attention:-<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
In a school, it is compulsory for you to sit in a seat and listen to your teacher. There is no escape. Whereas in an online class, it is very tempting to switch off, for some time, the audio, video and then, maybe, just talk with somebody else or fiddle with your mobile rather than being present in the meeting. Maintaining eye contact with the screen is a good way to show your instructor that, you are attending the class unless of course, you are taking notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
7. Participate Fully:-<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Classroom etiquette demands that a student must sit upright and pay attention in class. But, in a virtual world, sometimes online etiquette for students requires you to be very passive, whereas classroom etiquette requires you to be active. If the teacher is leading the class in a discussion, it is important to speak up and share your thoughts. If the teacher is just giving instructions to you, then pay close attention to what the instructions are and jot down diligently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
8. Don’t dominate the discussion:-<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Some students are very enthusiastic and want to participate in every discussion. This, is fine, as long as you give others a chance, to discuss. It is okay if there is a short silence in the class.<\/p>\n\n\n
